The Responsible Business Practices Training Materials represent a collaborative product between the Institute for Sustainable Development at the National Economics University (NEU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which was completed and put into use in May 2024.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responsible Business Practices can be concisely understood as businesses operating without causing negative impacts on people and the planet. The key to responsible business lies in achieving balance among three pillars: Profit \u2013 People \u2013 Planet. Currently, the framework for responsible business practices has been developing rapidly on a global scale, and Vietnam is no exception to this major trend. The Responsible Business Practices training materials are the result of over a year of collaboration between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam and ISD (NEU) within the scope of the global project on Business and Human Rights, with support from the Government of Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This training handbook is one component of the Responsible Business Practices training materials in Vietnam. This handbook guides users (trainers) on HOW TO utilize the materials to conduct training sessions. Trainers are recommended to thoroughly read this document and refer to corresponding sections in Component 2 \u2013 Presentation Slides \u2013 if necessary, before reviewing other components of the training materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training materials were co-designed and developed by the research team: Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Hien (Lecturer, National Economics University) with extensive experience in teaching, consulting, and researching human resource management, labor relations, sustainable leadership, and human rights due diligence; Mr. Nguyen Van Huan (Business and Human Rights Coordinator, UNDP Vietnam) with deep consulting and research experience in responsible business practices, business and human rights; Mr. Yuji Shinohara (Governance Specialist, UNDP Vietnam) with extensive experience in governance and industrial development, business and human rights; and Associate Professor Le Quang Canh (Senior Lecturer, National Economics University) with extensive experience in teaching, consulting, and researching sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training materials received consultation and contributions from Ms. Bui Thu Hien (Policy and Legal Specialist, UNDP Vietnam), Ms. Phung Thi Thu Ha (Project Coordinator, UNDP), and Mr. Tim McLaughlin (Social Performance Advisor).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Particularly, the research team wishes to pay tribute to the late Professor Nguyen Van Thang (National Economics University) for his tremendous contributions to responsible business activities and the exemplary studies featured in these training materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
