On July 23, 2024, at the National Economics University, the Institute for Sustainable Development (ISD) collaborated with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to organize a scientific seminar titled "Migration in the Red River Delta and Mekong Delta: Issues and Management."
This seminar was held within the framework of research for the project "Research on Migration in the Red River Delta and Mekong Delta," which is sponsored by UNDP and led by the Institute for Sustainable Development at the National Economics University.
The organizing committee for the seminar included representatives from UNDP Vietnam: Ms. Do Thanh Huyen – UNDP Expert, Ms. Do Le Thu Ngoc – Assistant Resident Representative and Head of the Inclusive Growth Unit, and Ms. Tran Thi Van Anh – Communications Officer. From the National Economics University, participants included Associate Professor Dr. Le Quang Canh – Director of ISD, along with members of the research team. The seminar was attended by experts from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs; the Central Institute for Economic Management; the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour; the Vietnam Association of Science and Technology; the Institute of Sociology under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; the Institute for Health Strategy and Policy under the Ministry of Health; the General Office for Population and Family Planning under the Ministry of Health; and the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Hanoi City.
The seminar also welcomed researchers and lecturers from various research institutes and universities, as well as representatives interested in migration-related issues and migration policies in Vietnam.
During the seminar, participants and the research team engaged in discussions about the project's key research findings and policy recommendations for migrants. The research team received numerous comments and suggestions aimed at refining the report for its official publication, scheduled for around August 2024.
