A. Functions
1. Scientific Research and Application of Research Results
The Institute conducts basic scientific research in sustainable development and related fields, publishes research results in prestigious domestic and international academic journals, and implements the application of research findings in practice.
2. Consulting Function
The Institute provides consulting services on sustainable development strategies, policies, and programs, as well as related issues for the Party, the State, management agencies, enterprises, and other organizations.
3. Training and Professional Development Function
The Institute implements training programs as assigned by the University and professional development courses according to social demand.
4. Knowledge Sharing and Community Development Function
The Institute collaborates and partners with domestic and international organizations and individuals to share new knowledge and enhance community awareness of sustainable development and related issues.
B. Missions
1. Scientific Research and Application of Research Results Missions
- Based on the University's strategy, develop the Institute's development strategy aimed at gradually improving the quality of scientific research and the Institute's reputation;
- Organize research to synthesize theories, policies, and management mechanisms as a foundation for the University to advise state agencies in formulating and promulgating sustainable development policies;
- Develop and implement scientific research projects aimed at international publications, contributing to consolidating research orientation and enhancing the University's domestic and international standing;
- Develop and implement scientific research projects to provide policy, governance, and business recommendations for innovation activities toward sustainable development;
- Advise and serve as the focal point representing the University in developing and forming perspectives and theories on sustainable development suitable to Vietnam's specific conditions;
- Deploy scientific research works and important publications of the University to affirm the University's scientific reputation;
- Become a center for gathering and mobilizing scientists within and outside the University to research and publish domestic and international publications;
- Collaborate and partner with international universities and research institutes to implement scientific research projects on sustainable development;
- Synthesize experiences and sustainable development models from other countries and apply them to Vietnam's reality;
- Develop and organize the implementation of national, regional, provincial, and municipal sustainable development strategies;
- Develop sectoral sustainable development strategies;
- Develop strategies and propose solutions for sustainable business development for enterprises;
- Apply theoretical and practical research results to training activities and improve the University's training quality.
2. Consulting Missions
- Provide consulting services to the Party, the State, and management agencies at all levels on sustainable development strategies and policies;
- Participate in evaluating and appraising development projects in related fields when needed;
- Provide consulting services to enterprises and public service organizations in strategic planning and sustainable development solutions.
3. Training and Professional Development Missions
- Organize and manage training according to current regulations and assignments from the University;
- Organize and implement professional development courses for organizations and individuals in need;
- Provide professional development and transfer scientific research results to sectors, localities, and enterprises for practical implementation;
- Organize professional development activities to enhance scientific research capacity with international integration orientation for faculty members within and outside the University.
4. Knowledge Sharing and Community Development Missions
- Organize domestic and international seminars and roundtables to provide new information and materials on sustainable development domestically and internationally;
- Provide training on scientific research methods and experiences for University faculty members and individuals and organizations in need.
5. Other Missions
- Organize the development, management, and preservation of the Institute's scientific materials according to current regulations, suitable to the requirements of domestic and international partners;
- Manage the Institute's staff and civil servants, manage finances and assets according to the University's Working Regulations and current state regulations;
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Rector.
