Abstract:

This talk examines the current wave of artificial intelligence between hype and real transformation. While narratives of technological singularity emphasize the emergence of human-like or superintelligent systems, recent advances in AI have followed a different path. The success of deep learning has not been driven by human-like cognitive architectures, but by mathematical and engineering developments that deliver powerful results across a wide range of tasks. This shift has important implications for economic and organizational contexts. Rather than producing unified, human-like agents, contemporary AI systems give rise to distributed forms of intelligence embedded in decision-making systems. The aim is to clarify what kind of transformation is actually taking place: not a transition toward superintelligent machines, but the emergence of hybrid socio-technical systems in which natural and artificial intelligence operate together.
